Meet Dr. Suzanne Grey

When Dr. Suzanne Grey was six years old her family migrated to Jamaica from the United States, accompanying her father as he embarked on starting his career as a dentist. Dr. Grey’s father was very adamant that all his children receive orthodontic consultations as soon as their permanent teeth started to erupt. One of the things she remembers vividly was the two-hour drive she would take each month to Kingston from Mandeville to visit the orthodontist. At the time there was no orthodontist in town and that drive was the only way for her to obtain orthodontic care. Though it was a fun trip, she knew that orthodontic care was a much needed service and that there were many others in Mandeville that were forced to seek care outside of their jurisdiction because of the lack of orthodontists in the area. It is this recollection, coupled with her thirst for knowledge and advanced education, which has led Dr. Grey to pursue a specialized degree in orthodontics.

Dr. Grey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Morgan State University and then went to the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry to pursue her dental degree. Whilst in dental school, she pursued a degree in Public Health. She completed her thesis in Jamaica, where she looked at the Quality of Oral Health Services within the Jamaican Public Health System. While in dental school she was active in many organizations. She graduated from dental school Magna Cum Laude and was given several awards at graduation. She completed her orthodontic training at Howard University.

As an orthodontist, she is committed to bringing enthusiasm and dedication to the profession and to the patients she treats. In addition to working at Grey Orthodontics, she sits on the Dental Auxillary Advisory committee for the Jamaica Dental Council and she is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics
